We are pleased to announce that Integral’s Board has approved a new governance structure.
In April 2024, our existing 21 trustees voted to approve new Articles of Association and a new Board Governance Policy for Integral. Following this decision they elected a new smaller Board, made up of eight CEOs/Presidents from Integral’s membership with two places on the Board reserved for independent directors from the Global South. All of our Members will continue to be represented in a Council of Members and take part in an Annual General Meeting.
This change in Integral’s governance is part of a year-long process looking at the future of Integral. The change drivers for this process are three key factors: firstly, a desire to achieve greater diversity, more local relevance and wider reach; secondly, increased flexibility in how our Members engage with Integral and thirdly, simplifying and reducing the burden on Members.
Carol Bremer-Bennett, the current Chair of the Board, says, “This is an historic moment in Integral’s twenty-year history. The new simplified governance structure will enable us to be more flexible and diverse as an Alliance, both within our membership and to our key stakeholders. This is vital as we seek to collaborate as Christian agencies to meet the challenges of increasing numbers of disasters and diminishing funding.”
Fiona Boshoff, CEO of Integral says, “We are confident that this decision gives us a more solid foundation for the future. As we approach our twentieth anniversary as Integral, we will continue to work on embracing greater diversity and becoming more locally relevant. Our mission of uniting our Members and facilitating collaborative working across the Alliance, particularly in disasters, will continue but in a more flexible and agile way.”
